Our Sustainability Journey
As a family run garden centre with our roots firmly in Cornwall, we want to reduce our impact on the environment and play an active part in the place we call home. We have made a pledge and we are fully committed on making a difference. A work in progress we look to better ourselves each and every year.
Peat Free Ambition
As a responsible retailer we are fully behind the vision to reduce peat from horticultural use. Here at Newquay Garden Centre we have teamed up with global brand Levingtons in an effort to accelerate this movement. By 2024 Newquay Garden Centre hopes to be peat free from all of our retail offerings.
Sustainable Palm Oil Pledge
In 2022 as a company we made a pledge with the Wild Planet Trust and became a sustainable palm oil champion. Our responsibility now is to audit our suppliers and their products and to steer away from products and companies that are not using sustainable palm oil.
Reducing Our Carbon Footprint
In 2021 we invested in a cardboard and plastic baler. We believe that this has had a huge impact in reducing our general waste output. In our restaurant we work closely with local companies to recycle all food waste and cooking oils.
In 2023 we have investment plans to further aid our carbon footprint reductions including solar panel installments accross the centre.
